A tragic hard drive crash left me with a paper printout and little desire to rebuild my lost efforts. Thankfully, my recent dabbling in databases opened the possibility of resurrecting my guidebook with the aide of a few bits of code. Now, as a precursor to my future as a web designer, I present to you: "The DeCarlo Movie Guide." Before diving into the reviews, I encourage you to read my introduction so that I may best express my intentions with his guidebook. It sounds strange, but during the course of its creation, I discovered that there were a great many things I didn't want this to be. In a nutshell, I attempt to explain a film's premise and its style to best guide your movie selections, NOT to dictate whether or not you [and by extension, everyone] should like a particular film or not. Lastly, I must note that this is a highly-evolving project. In addition to adding new reviews, I will be continually adding new features to the site. Ultimately, I would like to build something Netflix-esque (without the movie rental part). More than anything else, my goal is to further my web development abilities and to present them in a live environment. As I create interactive elements into the site, I hope that you will become involved and help make this a rich endeavor. |
